Turn order and drawing lots
Most jamiya arguments start with one question: who receives first? Here are fair ways to answer it.
Option 1: agree the order
Good when a member needs the money on a known date, such as a wedding or school fees. Write the order down and all agree before the first month.
Option 2: draw lots
Good when everyone wants an early turn. In Jamiya tap "Draw lots" for a random order everyone sees, then publish the plan. Nobody can say the order was chosen for them.
Shared turns
If a member pays half the monthly amount, they share a turn with another member. Example: Maha and Salim share the 28 September turn, OMR 800 each of OMR 1,600.
Swapping turns
Sometimes a member asks to swap. A swap is fine if both agree and the others know. In Jamiya a swap is a change to the plan, so it makes a new version members accept.
Before you publish the order
- Check every turn is fully covered.
- Check every member knows their date.
- Keep a copy of the order everyone accepted.
